My story

Throughout my adulthood, I’ve always been the ‘odd one out’ out of my group of friends for being the only girl to be interested in gyms workouts, healthy diet and fitness in general. Being “an ambitious and strong-minded girl” as my father use to put it, I realised that I wasn’t just content with looking after myself but wanted to positively influence others too in making the right choices about their eating habits and lifestyle. After all, we only ever get one body to help us go the distance!
What probably triggered this mindset is when my brother held my arm up and
shook it. Slightly embarrassing but it jiggled… I mean, I was never over-weight, I was always a size 10 but I did have some excess fat on me and the only activity I did till that point was the 2 or 3 PE sessions at school. So after having reality strike me, or rather jiggle me, I decided to join the fitness classes at the community center at my neighborhood and look closely into my nutrition.
Since then, I spent the next 4 years at college doing different activities to keep myself active and this included a lot of cardio classes, plyometrics, swimming, badminton, basketball etc to name a few…
By my second year of college I prepped all of my meals, containing a portion of
protein, complex carbs and vegetables. I could genuinely start to see a change in my lifestyle, productivity and mood.
Once I started university, I joined the Queen Mary University of London gym –
Qmotion. This is where I was introduced to weight lifting; I fell in love with it to the extent where I took part in the Queen Mary Female Weight Lifting
Competition in 2013. The only thing that really bothered me was the fact that
80% of the time I was the only female using the weight lifting area.
In 2014, towards the end of my second year of university, my brother convinced me to join him on the personal training course.
After I graduated with Bachelors of Engineering in Medical Material Science, I
spent a year applying for the engineering/science related jobs but I guess my
heart always inclined towards my passion of giving back to the creation of God
and helping people in a positive manner whilst doing what I love and this lead me to pursuing Personal Training.
